The Introduction presents the central argument of the project, that is, a re-evaluation of selected contemporary African novels as world-making narratives of resistance. Such a re-evaluation requires the use of an alternative theoretical framework, which is built on Pheng Cheah’s notion of poietic literature. The Introduction offers an overview of the main theories developed so far in the fields of Postcolonial and World Literature, situating the book within the ongoing debate regarding the place of contemporary postcolonial novels at the intersections of the publishing market, Afropolitanism, and World Literature. The Introduction further delineates the structure of the book.

摘要
