Originally from China, Dou Shaojie first came to Japan in his college years and today lives in Kyoto with his Japanese wife and their two children. As a member of both cultures he astutely provides fascinating observations and insights into the nuances between Japanese and Chinese traditions and customs with regards to family and family business, including the impact of rules and codes as well as their creative expansions and adaptations.
