Modified quadrature formulas for the simple layer potential are derived for the standard quadrature formula of numerical integration. The modified formulas uniformly approximate the potential near the surface, where the potential density is specified, and preserve continuity of the potential when passing through this surface. Accuracy of computations of the simple layer potential is compared for different quadrature formulas by test examples.
