ShieldHer - An Application for Women’s Safety and Empowerment
摘要
Women’s safety remains a significant concern in India, with many women facing daily risks of violence and harassment in both physical and digital spaces. Despite growing advancements in technology and legal frameworks, the accessibility and effective solutions for women are not widely utilized. This paper presents the design and functionality of a mobile application developed to enhance the safety of women in India with help of AI. This application integrates multiple features, including the ability to locate nearby police stations, make emergency calls, share live locations with trusted contacts, and record audio for evidence during distressing situations. In addition to this, the application incorporates a unique misogynistic content detection system that evaluates web pages for harmful or abusive content, thereby protecting users from online harassment. With these diverse functionalities, the aim is to provide women with an immediate and reliable means of securing help and ensuring their safety in real-time in different parts of India.
