Ultrasonography and Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology of Parathyroid Glands
摘要
Hyperparathyroidism is an increasingly diagnosed condition that leads to several comorbidities. Optimal imaging is crucial for minimally invasive therapy. Ultrasound (US) is the first-line imaging modality for localizing abnormal parathyroid glands (PTGs) in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. However, accurate interpretation requires expertise, as several benign and malignant conditions may mimic parathyroid lesions. This chapter will review the value and limitations of ultrasound in the detection of parathyroid lesions.
