Blockchain Enabled RBAC System for Enhancing Security and Privacy in Healthcare
摘要
Healthcare systems need to have strong security measures to protect patient data privacy and access control. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) coupled with blockchain technology, ensures stronger security, transparency, and decentralization. This paper presents a blockchain-enabled RBAC model designed for healthcare data management, leveraging Ethereum to define and enforce access control policies through smart contracts. The system uses roles like Patient, Doctor, and Admin, each with certain permissions for reading and writing health records and personal data. Experimental results show that the proposed approach not only strengthens data integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility but also improves key performance metrics such as authentication time, throughput, transaction latency, and energy consumption. Ultimately it is simplifying healthcare processes and overcoming the limitations of existing security frameworks. This implementation creates the gateway towards scalable and resilient e-health technology by demonstrating blockchain-based RBAC's potentiality in healthcare data protection.
