This chapter generalizes our modeling framework even further to formally account for the findings of the preceding chapter, and presents the mathematical model of a generic living system. In order to help the reader better appreciate the usually unfamiliar mathematics into which the study of living systems has launched us, some easy-to-understand mathematical material is provided in this chapter.
