There are a growing number of social media platforms that have different uses in graduate medical education (GME). Educational opportunities to use social media in GME include networking, professional development, didactic content, scientific communication, and resident and fellowship program communication. This chapter presents data on social media usage, how to start a professional account, and how to address common challenges. It also gives some approaches to using each platform and outlines the risks and benefits of social media use.
