ESG Analysis of Advanced Nuclear Engineering Technologies
摘要
Changes in energy fuel markets and the demand for clean energy production, resulted in the rise of nuclear energy in addition to the rise of renewables. Since an energy mix is needed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the impact of nuclear power plants on the environment and the challenges of their technological lifecycle are widely discussed according to the criteria of the ESG principles. Moderate effects of nuclear power generation on the environment include the low CO2 emissions per kWh, or the less land, and building material use per kWh than other zero-carbon generation. It is also taken into account that the nuclear energy produces electricity at low costs for decades once it has been built. In this work, the sustainability concerns of nuclear power technology is discussed considering the national economic interest to create sustainable energy through nuclear energy.
