In today’s globalized world, people are constantly on the move. Migration breaks down the traditionally established boundaries between cultures, ethnic groups, and languages, contributes to diversity and the revitalization of culture and the economy, and sometimes to a completely new culture. Thousands of people see migration as a challenge or even a threat. The Eastern Mediterranean migration route is a geographical area that is not so far from Hungary; therefore, the situation of the Greek Islands regarding illegal migration is also particularly important within the European Union, because migrants come from such a wide range of places, which poses a significant threat to Europe’s security and well-being.
