Maintaining the operability of critical infrastructure is of outstanding importance for societies, so protecting it is also a primary task. Field artillery can pose a very serious direct and indirect threat to critical infrastructure. Their attack can have a significant impact on the population, the economy and national security as well. Artillery assets, be they guns, multiple launchers or ballistic missiles, are capable of causing significant damage to these facilities and/or systems, especially infrastructure close to combat troops, due to their long range and destructive power. This article presents the areas of active and passive defense against the effects of field artillery and explores its possibilities and tools or types of equipment. In addition, the study also tries to make general recommendations on the subject.
