This pivotal chapter presents two normative frameworks: “The Ten Rules of Robotics” and “The Ten Robot Rights.” The former reimagines Asimov’s laws in a contemporary ethical context. The latter articulates rights to autonomy, protection, identity, data integrity, and dignified deactivation, among others. Together, these frameworks address both sides of the human–machine relationship: how robots should treat humans, and how humans should treat robots. The chapter also very briefly reflects on the philosophical and legal significance of these proposals in the context of AI alignment and the mitigation of existential risks.

摘要

This pivotal chapter presents two normative frameworks: “The Ten Rules of Robotics” and “The Ten Robot Rights.” The former reimagines Asimov’s laws in a contemporary ethical context. The latter articulates rights to autonomy, protection, identity, data integrity, and dignified deactivation, among others. Together, these frameworks address both sides of the human–machine relationship: how robots should treat humans, and how humans should treat robots. The chapter also very briefly reflects on the philosophical and legal significance of these proposals in the context of AI alignment and the mitigation of existential risks.
