Novel Electrification Solution to Produce High-Temperature Heat to Decarbonize Process Heating in Aluminum Industry
摘要
The Rotodynamic HeaterRotodynamic heater (RDH™) is an advanced electrificationElectrification technology that converts mechanical energyEnergy from a rotating component into heat, allowing gases like air, nitrogen, and CO2 to be heated to temperatures up to 1700 °C without fuel combustionCombustion. This makes it an ideal solution for decarbonizing high-temperature processes. In the aluminum industry, RDH has significant potential for alumina calcination, aluminum melting, refining, and heat treatments. Traditionally, these processes rely on fossil fuels, but RDH can replace them with up to 95% energyEnergy efficiency, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering CO2 emissionsCO emissions reduction. RDH also enables the use of affordable, green electricity, further reducing operational costs. Additionally, the technology offers benefits like inert gas heating and heat recirculation, contributing to more sustainable, efficient operations in industries requiring high-temperature processes. This presentation introduces the technology and its applications in the aluminum industry, highlighting integration and benefits.
