Elevating Knowledge Management Through Digital Transformation: The Smart Organizations Perspective

Smart organizations with learning and knowledge processing as their foundation create an environment supporting digital transformation and knowledge management. Knowledge management in the context of digital transformation and smart organizations is no longer just a tool to support operations. It is becoming a strategic pillar of organizational competitiveness, innovation, and agility. This article shows the relationship between digital transformation and process-oriented knowledge management, considering organizational size. A diagnostic survey using an online questionnaire was used to achieve the objective. Two hundred fifty responses were collected through purposive sampling. The research showed that implementing digital solutions depends on the company’s size and that knowledge management is one of the organization’s fundamental processes. The added value of the article is to indicate the perception of smart organizations and their connection to digital solutions and knowledge management among employees of small, medium, and large companies from different industries. Further research directions should be identified to examine the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) development on knowledge management in smart organizations .
