The Implementation of Robotic Process Automation in Project Management in the IT Industry

Organizations involved in the production and provision of IT services operate in unstable market conditions, the continuity of their operations largely depends on the proper selection of optimal processes and the use of effective project management methods. This can be ensured by the use of robotic process automation. The main objective of the work is to identify aspects of process automation using software robots (RPA) in project management and the problems of their implementation in a company dealing with software development. The work presents the place, role, advantages, and disadvantages as well as the relations of RPA to artificial intelligence (AI) used in the organization and the theoretical foundations of RPA application. The research experiment method was used to create and then implement in the SCRUM methodology a real operating RPA in an IT company. The result of the work is the construction of RPA for selected processes in an IT company, the specification of the effects resulting from the implementation of process robotization technology, and ways to manage problems related to the implementation of automated processes. The originality of the work lies in the creative mapping of the selected example of creating and implementing RPA in a real organization. The results of the work can therefore be useful both for theoreticians studying the applications of the latest IT methods in project management as well as for practitioners of business informatics.
