Which Factors Affect How We Embody LIFE and DEATH?
摘要
In this chapter, we report our findings related to the effective factors or namely potential predictors for the selection of prototypes that support the embodiment of abstract concepts of LIFE and DEATH in German, English, and Persian. We hypothesized the potential effect of age, handedness, religion, language, nation, gender, and level of education in the embodiment of DEATH and LIFE. Indeed, you read the answer to the question: Are age, handedness, religion, language, nation, gender, and level of education predicting factors in the embodiment of LIFE and DEATH? Multivariate regression analyses showed that language, nation, and education emerged as the strongest predictors of how participants embodied and conceptualized LIFE and DEATH. Our findings show that not only language reflects thought but it also actively structures how abstract experiences are mentally simulated. Details of the methodological design are available in Chap. 5 . The results from the tests are provided in this chapter on the basis of the probable effective factor. Detailed tables and graphs from all 20 multivariate regression analyses are available online at: [ https://figshare.com/s/921ba2fe41e687056fbe ].
