This article explores the contribution of communication design, particularly editorial design, to preserving regional press, making it functional and appealing to its diverse audiences. It also examines how design can contribute to regional development and territorial cohesion. The research involved various methodologies, such as literature review, case studies (of international, national, and regional newspapers), interviews, surveys, and an analysis of the graphic evolution of Jornal da Beira from 1921 to the present day. All these steps helped to inform and establish the foundation for the “research by design” phase, focused on the redesign process of the regional newspaper Jornal da Beira, which involved the reformulation of the printed newspaper and new proposals for its digital version, social media, and communication complements.

摘要
