In this study, it was aimed to examine the metallurgical structures of AA6082 alloys after the castingCasting and homogenizationHomogenization process. During the castingCasting of AA6082 alloys, billets were produced. The porosity was determined by the reduced pressure test and bifilmBifilm index were examined. Liquid metal was treated with flux feeder in the holdingHolding furnace with different conditions such as changing gas flowGas flow rateFlow rate, changing flux ratio and degassing duration. The billets were then subjected to different homogenizationHomogenization process where microstructuresMicrostructure and homogeneity were examined. In addition, SEM and EDS examinations were carried out to characterise the AlFeSi and Mg2Si phase distributions. It was found that the melt cleanliness plays a significant role on the end product qualityQuality.
