EGA is the world’s largest ‘premium aluminiumAluminium’ producer and still, new production capacities are explored to come on stream soon. Skilled leaders will be required in key positions of the new production facilities. EGA has chosen R&D CarbonCarbon as the partner to develop a tailor-made program to support the future leaders for building technical leadership capabilities. The concept of the Technical Leadership Program consists of six milestones that were achieved by the first cohort within 35 weeks. In parallel to the theoretical and practical activities on shop floor, the preparation of a diploma thesis was a crucial part of this training experience. The theses covered the topics of carbonCarbon dusting, spike formation, burn-off, anodeAnode cracking and increase of anodeAnode production capacity. Based on their newly acquired skills, the graduates could demonstrate the improvement of the KPIs using real data of EGA and show how the anodeAnode performance issues are interlinked.
