However, the existing cover design at INALUM has a number of weaknesses such as a structure that easily bends, it is unable to withstand large loads, and is too heavy such that it risks work safetySafety and operational efficiencyOperational efficiency. To correct this problem, a new pot cover design was developed at INALUM with several improvements as presented in this paper. The new cover has at least two-times stronger curve structure including a footstep area; precise construction to prevent gas leakage; and lighter weight for easy handling.
