PHP is the most popular programming language for web development, offering powerful frameworks that enable developers to implement applications quickly and securely, such as Laravel and Symfony. This paper provides a comparative analysis of both frameworks, creating a simple CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) application. The comparative assessment examines development time, performance, extensibility, learning curve, community resources, and code maintainability. The findings indicate that Laravel excels in rapid application development and usability, while Symfony is an excellent choice for configurability and extensibility. This paper will help inform software developers and organisations on the best PHP framework for their next web application. This paper presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of two of the most widely used PHP frameworks: Laravel and Symfony. By implementing the same CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) applications, the study compared these frameworks on several different criteria: Development Time, Code Complexity, Performance Metrics, Learning Curve, and Architectural types. For the research methodology, the study developed functionally similar task management applications using both frameworks, compared the results based on quantitative performance testing, and provided a reflective assessment of the developer experience. Based on the research findings, the study found that Laravel offered better developer productivity and ease of use, while Symfony offered improved performance and better flexibility in terms of architecture. This research contributes to the fields of software development and software architecture by providing a comparison of available PHP frameworks and highlighting key decision points for utilising PHP frameworks in web application development.

摘要
