The Fourier transform describes the spectrum of an arbitrary waveform, extending Fourier analysis to waveforms that are not periodic. The Fourier transform and its properties are discussed. The Fourier transform is used to find how a circuit transfer function changes the spectrum of a nonperiodic waveform. The spectrum of an amplitude modulated (AM) waveform is investigated.
