This study presents a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications concerning thermochemical nitriding treatment from 1965 to 2024. The analysis was conducted using the Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny packages within RStudio, processing a total of 11,519 documents sourced from the Scopus database. The statistical examination facilitated the identification of keyword frequencies, geographical distribution, collaboration networks, and the impact of prominent journals in this field. The findings indicate an annual growth rate of 7.8% in published works, with China, Japan, and Germany leading in scientific output. The journals with the highest influence, determined by their h-index, were found to be Surface and Coatings, along with Applied Surface Science. Furthermore, emerging research trends highlight a growing interest in “plasma nitriding” and “aluminum nitride,” which have gained prominence since 1995 and 2010, respectively.
