This chapter explores the severe humanitarian situation that Syria is currently experiencing and how it is affecting children, teachers, and the educational system. More specifically, this chapter investigates the complex history of war in Syria and its disastrous effects on the infrastructure, accessibility, and caliber of education by tracing the origins of conflict. Syria is home to one of the largest refugee populations in the world, with millions of people displaced both internally and externally, adding to the already difficult struggle for educational resources (UNICEF, 2025). With an emphasis on the predicament of educators and children, the author examines the variety of difficulties that they face on a daily basis, ranging from exposure to trauma and violence to disturbed learning environments. This chapter also provides a basic understanding of the negative consequences of conflict on education and the critical role of prioritizing students’ mental well-being and teachers’ professional growth in Syria today. Practical implications for early childhood teachers and recommendations for further research are included.
