The Last Supper: Genetic Transmattering and Self-Digesting
摘要
Bennett’s concept of vitalism is crucial for understanding my experiences during the development of The Last Supper. Her vision of material assemblages consisting of several independent elements inspired me to carry further my physical transmattering commenced in the safe suicide project. My cells were living beings, performing their metabolic processes. I decided to penetrate into their bodies and isolate their lively essence—the genetic material. I wanted to use its plasticity and lively potential to foster a special bond between my body and the body of yeast. The protein being which is at the same time a code, a form of language, had to be transported between my body and the body of yeast by living vehicles: bacteria.
