The impulse to globalise the study of regionalism (Bilgin & Futák-Campbell, 2021) implies that the world of regionalism is larger and more complex than conventional tools of regional integration derived from one region allow us to grasp. The main challenge has been to bring concepts and theories of regionalism from the Global South in order to avoid the study of regionalism being dominated by the experience of European integration.
