Blue Economy Innovation: Enhancing Marine Resilience Through Sustainable Technologies
摘要
The increasing urgency to tackle marine degradation, climate change, and unsustainable ocean exploitation has made the Blue Economy an important development pathway. This chapter investigates how innovation and emerging technologies transform ocean-based industries while simultaneously sustaining marine ecology. By concentrating on sustainable technologies—ranging from smart ocean systems, marine renewable energy, and green shipping to biotechnological solutions—it seeks to underscore their role in the promotion of economic growth in tandem with environmental conservation. Such technologies promote the core ambitions of the Blue Economy with strong interlinkages related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 14-Life Below Water, SDG 13-Climate Action, and SDG 9-Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Through an all-encompassing conceptual framework and case-based analysis, this chapter highlights how the integration of AI, IoT, and autonomous systems can help build resilience in marine ecosystems whilst promoting resource efficiency and alleviating human impacts.
