This chapter explores the concept of ideological parsimony as a theoretical virtue within metaphysical discussions. I propose a definition of ideological kinds that strikes a balance between parsimony and the hyperintensional nature of reality, refining the relationship between theoretical roles and their corresponding fillers. I conclude by considering the extent to which equivalence between rival metaphysical theories can be maintained while preserving their explanatory power.

摘要

This chapter explores the concept of ideological parsimony as a theoretical virtue within metaphysical discussions. I propose a definition of ideological kinds that strikes a balance between parsimony and the hyperintensional nature of reality, refining the relationship between theoretical roles and their corresponding fillers. I conclude by considering the extent to which equivalence between rival metaphysical theories can be maintained while preserving their explanatory power.
