The relevant technology transferTechnology transfer metrics used in the United States for descriptive purposes are invention disclosures, patent applications filed, patents issued, Federal licenses, Federal income from licenses, Federal collaborative research and development (R&D) relationships, and science and engineering (S&E) articles published. A comparative reference is made to the knowledge transfer metrics commonly referred to by policy makers in the European Union.
