HealthGuard: A Blockchain-Powered Structure for Safe Electronic Health Record Administration
摘要
Centralized vulnerabilities account for approximately 45% of healthcare data breaches in current Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Because interoperability has become necessary in these systems, patient information is fragmented and susceptible. Blockchain provides decentralization, transparency, and patient control, however, as a disruptive force. HealthGuard is a patient-centric system providing individuals with enhanced control of health information, establishing a culture of privacy and support for well-informed decision-making. The adoption of Ethereum and Metamask provides secure authentication of users, and the utilization of decentralized storage solutions provides alternative and secure forms of data storage. Smart contracts also improve efficiency in interactions among patients, doctors, and lab technicians in the HealthGuard system. Utilization of blockchain-based EHR systems will improve the security of the data by employing decentralized storage options for the storage of patient data for an increased layer of protection, streamlined coordination of care, and tailored options for treatment. Healthcare processes will be automated via the utilization of smart contracts and decentralized applications, which will improve productivity and reduce administrative expenses. Finally, blockchain technology gives the power to control one’s own health to the individual, bringing about a patient-centered healthcare system.
