Microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) represents a shift to a safer surgical profile compared to trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage devices, but with lower ability to promote IOP reduction. In MIGS, the aqueous humor can be drained via several routes, including the suprachoroidal, the subconjunctival, and Schlemm’s canal (SC) routes. The concept of bypassing the trabecular meshwork to reach SC has been previously applied to the treatment of congenital glaucoma, but is now expanded to different forms of open-angle glaucoma.
