How and When to Use a Growth Guidance Surgery (Shilla)
摘要
Spinal growth guidance is a surgical procedure that maximally corrects and then fuses the apical deformity, while guiding future vertebral growth of the cranial and caudal vertebra along the parallel spinal rods. This technique differs from distraction-based constructs in that spinal growth guidance is a load-sharing construct that mitigates the risk of developing osteopenia and auto-fusion and does not require scheduled construct lengthenings, but has similar radiographic outcomes and complications risk.
