Chiari Type-1 Malformation, Syringomyelia, and Scoliosis
摘要
Scoliosis is a common comorbidity in patients who have Chiari type-1 malformation and syringomyelia. Early treatment of the Chiari malformation and subsequent improvement in the syrinx can stabilize or cause a reduction in curve magnitude, potentially obviating the need for deformity correction in some patients. In the event that both surgeries are necessary, addressing the Chiari type-1 malformation (if symptomatic) before deformity correction is preferable.
