Embracing Life: Innovative Interior Design for Elderly Welfare Home in Rustaq, Sultanate of Oman
摘要
In an era marked by a demographic shift toward an aging population, this study takes a unique approach by focusing on the role of a supportive environment in Rustaq’s social welfare homes. These homes are known for their commitment to eldercare through biophilic design. The study aims to identify specific environmental factors that influence the health and quality of life of older residents and to propose strategies to enhance overall environmental quality. The findings of this exploration will provide policymakers and stakeholders with valuable insights into the importance of creating healthy living environments for seniors, thereby promoting their health, autonomy, and overall well-being. The study examines the impact of innovative design on elderly individuals in care homes in Rustaq. By integrating insights from Sugiyama and Thompson’s seminal work in environmental gerontology, this study provides a robust foundation for advancing research, informing policy, and implementing effective practices to enhance the lives of aging populations worldwide. This interdisciplinary approach emphasizes the importance of creating inclusive, age-friendly environments that foster longevity, vitality, and fulfillment in older adulthood. Finally, the study concludes that the redesign of a care home for older adults in Rustaq had a significant impact, with a focus on innovative interior design, a life-centered approach, and revitalized care. The aim is to create a more comfortable, transformative environment that positively influences older adults’ behavior, emphasizing the importance of providing space for relaxation and comfort through the redesign of a welfare home in Rustaq, Sultanate of Oman.
