In the past 2 years, numerous judgments by the Court of Justice of the European Union have clarified fundamental issues of EU competition law, notably in the field of the digital economy and in relation to the powers of European and national competition authorities in the area of merger control. In this short contribution, we will focus on one such judgment, delivered on 21 December 2023 in the Superleague case. In this judgment, which deals with the implementation of competition rules in the context of professional sports, the Court, sitting in the Grand Chamber, delivered, more broadly, what is known as a “recap” judgment.

摘要

In the past 2 years, numerous judgments by the Court of Justice of the European Union have clarified fundamental issues of EU competition law, notably in the field of the digital economy and in relation to the powers of European and national competition authorities in the area of merger control.
