The Future of Green Financing for Small Businesses in Developing Countries
摘要
Green financing for SMEs in developing countries is evolving amidst a global campaign for sustainable development, linking these enterprises as fundamental players in the transition to sustainable business, eco-friendly environment, and inclusive growth. The chapter addresses the future of green financing for small businesses in developing countries. Qualitative content and bibliometric analysis in a systematic literature review of 58 relevant papers on green financing for small businesses were used. The principal objective was to investigate the future of green financing for SMEs in developing countries. Key findings depict that the future of green financing for small businesses in developing Asian countries holds significant potential for advancing sustainable development and enabling the evolution of green economies. China, Indonesia, and India are leading in fostering the future policy direction, as proven by research and citation drive. However, African, Latin American, and Middle Eastern developing countries are not visible, thus signalling the knowledge gap and innovation gap among developing countries. The study also found emerging and future trends for green financing for SMEs: blockchain technology, environment and social governance framework, and green crowdfunding. The research recommends that governments create a supportive policy framework to encourage green investment, incentivise SMEs to adopt green practices and technology, and adopt ESG principles that boost visibility to local and international investors.
