The oceans are vital to Earth, and coastal regions, specifically, encompass a diverse array of habitats and ecosystems. Climate change (CC) is modifying oceanic atmosphere, biology system, level of the sea, and glacier circulation. Hence, the concept of sustainability is being embraced in the context of oceans which focus on the process that inflicts minimal or no harm on the natural environment or living beings, including humans. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a significant instrument for mitigating the CC through circular economy (CE) approach. In light of the increasing role AI in environmental initiatives, this chapter aims to explore different applications of AI for achieving ocean sustainability. The chapter is based on secondary sources of data and reviews the existing research on the topic for identifying the current trend regarding AI application for ocean sustainability. It is found that the remote sensing techniques and remote networks are being used extensively in marine context along with robotics applications. AI including big data is very efficient in gathering ocean data and waste tracking for keeping the oceans clean. Use of autonomous vehicle for surveillance is also prominent for scientific as well as industrial applications. AI programs can predict the probable effects of increasing sea levels in different places by identifying patterns and correlations something humans could neglect. The chapter offers implications for practice and policy making along with suggestions for future research opportunities.

摘要
