In recent years, contemporary designers have increasingly explored the fusion of traditional jade craftsmanship with modern design aesthetics, resulting in innovative and captivating jewellery pieces. This study examines how designers integrate traditional materials and techniques with contemporary artistic expressions to create unique works that redefine the perception of jade in jewellery design. Notably, Wang Shusen’s Gold and Jade Lovers series harmonizes the warmth of jade with the structured elegance of gold, embodying a sophisticated Oriental aesthetic. Similarly, Zhang Yufei’s Lacquer Jade Shenghui collection merges jade carving with traditional lacquer art, showcasing a refined balance between intricate craftsmanship and minimalist elegance. By analyzing these pioneering approaches, this research highlights the evolving role of jade in contemporary jewellery, demonstrating how heritage techniques can be revitalized through modern innovation. The findings underscore the potential for interdisciplinary design strategies to bridge tradition and modernity, fostering new directions in jewellery artistry and cultural preservation.
