Ecological Dynamics of Creative Adaptivity: A Novel Research Methodology for the Socio-Psycho-Biological Continuum
摘要
A significant limitation of earlier work in ecological dynamics lies in the lack of explicit focus on the diverse types of couplings within the nested constraints that guide action. This gap has hindered a deeper understanding of the intricate, dynamic interactions that give rise to creativity. In this chapter, we aim to advance a more complete ecological dynamics theory of creative adaptivity. Central to our approach is an exploration of the broader landscape of constraints, their hierarchical and nested organization, and the distinct modes of coupling that influence emergent behaviors. We put forward key theoretical predictions concerning the conditions under which creativity arises and offer an explanation for its relative rarity compared to more routine adaptive actions. Building on this foundation, we outline future directions for applied research, emphasizing how these insights can inform practice across contexts. To support this endeavor, we introduce a novel methodological framework designed to investigate creativity along a socio-psycho-biological axis. This integrative approach seeks to capture the full complexity of creative adaptivity as a dynamic, embodied, and context-sensitive process.
