We Were All Born Rebels
摘要
The tension between conformity and nonconformity has an impact on society and organizations. From birth, humans display innate rebelliousness, but social systems gradually condition us to conform, often at the cost of individuality and purpose. Teenagers are frequently criticized for their nonconforming behavior, yet this is a natural and necessary stage of development that is influenced by biology, identity formation, and peer dynamics. In adulthood, conformity becomes deeply ingrained, especially in organizations where it suppresses creativity, well-being, and innovation. Research underscores that rebellion fosters agility, critical thinking, and resilience—qualities that organizations need to survive in rapidly changing environments.
