Urban Infrastructure Provision and Real Estate Markets
摘要
Urban infrastructure encompasses a diverse array of services, which include communication, transportation, energy distribution, recycling and refining processes, solid waste collection, wastewater and sewage management, as well as the provision and distribution of safe drinking water. It entails the management and planning of these services, in addition to the construction, maintenance, renewal, and operation of associated networks and facilities. In Türkiye, the processes pertaining to the financing, planning, projection, management, and operation of urban infrastructure are executed by central administrations (ministries), local authorities, water and sewage administrations, and transportation authorities. This chapter explores the concept of urban infrastructure and its historical development in Türkiye from 1980 to 2021. Furthermore, it examines the allocation of public investments within the sector, encompassing infrastructure investments and their proportion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as infrastructure developments, financing methodologies, associated risks, and challenges. The influence of infrastructure on real estate markets is also evaluated.
