With the mounting social pressure for companies to advocate controversial sociopolitical issues, Corporate Social Advocacy (CSA) has evolved into an essential communication function for organizations to build meaningful relationships and connections with diverse stakeholders. With the volatile nature of the social media environment, a challenge lies in how organizations could effectively navigate a highly polarized digital media sphere in their CSA initiatives. This chapter discusses three aspects of CSA practices on social media: (1) the influence of online public opinion on CSA, (2) CSA communication strategies on social media, and (3) patterns of companies’ social media engagement with stakeholders through CSA. This analysis underscores the need for incorporating authenticity, emotional resonance, and value congruence into CSA communication on social media. We end the chapter with a case study on Tractor Supply’s withdrawal of their CSA initiatives.

摘要
