The preservation and the documentation of historical settlements are crucial parameters for cultural heritage conservation. Such areas often need documentation not only to preserve their historical significance but also to support their ongoing development. The use of typical surveying methods and instruments, for such projects has become time-consuming and inadequate. The demand for more information through precise and detailed diagrams imposes the integration of different geodetic methods and corresponding equipment. Moreover, the increase in the computing power gave the ability to present the results of a survey as 3D models. This study presents an approach combining various geodetic methods and state-of-the-art equipment to achieve high-precision 3D documentation of the traditional settlement of Monemvasia, Greece. Monemvasia, a medieval fortress town, embodies a rich tapestry of architectural and historical significance, necessitating meticulous recording techniques to capture its details. Employing an integrative methodology, the research utilizes terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry along with the always-needed classical survey method to acquire dense spatial data. The fusion of these techniques facilitates the creation of a detailed 3D model of the Monemvasia Fortress, serving multiple purposes: aiding conservation efforts, providing a foundation for virtual tours, and serving as a baseline for future restorative interventions.
