The Impact of Criminal Liability on Crimes Infringing the Rights of Individuals and Communities

This chapter considers the effect of criminal liability on offenders who violate human rights. This research underscores the importance of criminal penalties in discouraging acts that invade human dignity. It discusses how international and domestic laws apply to punish persons guilty of human rights violations through an analytical study of existing legislation and their strategies for implementation. The chapter further evaluates the impact of punitive measures on offenders, notably its power in terms of reducing recidivism and the psychological as well as economic effects it can have on them. The aim of this paper is to make proposals for improving legal systems to further justice and defend rights in society.
