Unlocking Africa’s Potential in Global Value Chains: Lessons from East Asian and Latin American Experiences
摘要
This paper explores how some countries in East Asia and Latin America integrated into global value chains (GVCs) in a smart and systematic way. The study attempted to understand what African countries can learn from their examples. The findings show that countries grow better when they work hard to increase exports, improve schools and training, support new ideas (innovation), and build good roads, electricity, and other important infrastructure. Helping small and medium-sized businesses is also very important. The study posits that African governments need to make strong plans that fit their local needs. This paper gives some suggestions. These include using different export strategies, training more people (especially young people), building better infrastructure, and supporting ideas that include everyone. If African countries follow these steps, they can become stronger and more active in global trade.
