This paper aims to analyze the impact of productive zakat on the welfare of asnaf entrepreneur using the before and after approach. Before and after approach was conducted to assess the impact of productive zakat on the welfare of asnaf entrepreneurs for before and after receiving productive zakat from BAZNAS (Badan Amil Zakat Nasional/The Indonesian National Zakat Board) in North Sumatra, Indonesia. This study used data of productive zakat recipients which is provided by BAZNAS. BAZNAS used purposive sampling to identify 30 mustahiqs (asnaf entrepreneur) from whom the primary data were collected in 2020. BAZNAS runs productive and consumptive zakat programs in North Sumatra. However, this study only focuses specifically on productive zakat recipients of BAZNAS in 2020. The aim of productive zakat program is to enhance asnaf entrepreneurs’ business performance and their welfare of living. This study focused specifically the impact of productive zakat on welfare of asnaf entrepreneur through their household income and expenditures. The findings shows that gender has positive relationship significantly on change in household income. Unfortunately, productive zakat fund shows negative significantly on change in household income. Finally, educational background and marital status showed that they have positive relationship significantly with change in household expenditure. These findings are expected will be useful for policymaker of BAZNAS to improve the program of productive zakat with increasing amount of productive zakat fund and accompanied by training and business skills with the aim to enhance the welfare of the asnaf entrepreneurs.
