Aspects of Futurism in Malawian Speculative Fiction
摘要
This chapter examines the speculative genre of fiction in Malawian literature. By discussing the craft of writing and how Malawian writers of speculative fiction employ different storytelling techniques, oral resources, and environmental themes to raise awareness, I contend that Ken Lipenga’s short stories, which are abundant in fantasy and mythical symbols, have a direct connection to the evolution of speculative fiction in Malawi. Additionally, I link stories by Ken Lipenga, Shadreck Chikoti, Wesley Macheso, Muthi NHLEMA, among others, to African oral literature and western influences to emphasize the results of literary experimentation in postcolonial African narratives.
