Lupenga Mphande: Autobiographical Poet of Thoza, Malawi
摘要
The Malawian poet Lupenga Mphande employs autobiographical narratives to address socio-political, environmental, spiritual, and historical occurrences in his nation, particularly during the dictatorial reign of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda. Through the use of nature imagery, childhood recollections, and a zeitgeist perspective, he links the past with the present, imbuing his work with both historical significance and critical portrayals of tyranny in his homeland, alongside the fears, joys, and anxieties of a patriot. Throughout his writings, Thoza, Malawi, is personified. His poetry is vibrant, highlighting the poet’s role as the voice of his people, denouncing oppression while fostering hope.
