Using Technology in Curriculum
摘要
The integration of technology in pediatric graduate medical education (GME) is revolutionizing the education of pediatric residents. As the field of pediatrics evolves, incorporating advanced technological methods and tools into education is essential for preparing future pediatricians. There are several variables to consider with the use of technology in the education of pediatric residents, including changes in learners, changes in pediatrics, and changes in the expectations of patients and their families. All these factors are important for program directors to consider with the opportunity to create meaningful individualized learning opportunities for each resident in their program. Pediatric GME has traditionally relied on lectures, hands-on clinical training, and an apprenticeship model of teaching. However, with the rapid advancement of technology, there has been a significant shift toward incorporating digital tools and resources. This transformation aims to enhance the learning experience, improve the quality of education, and better prepare residents for the demands of caring for the next generation of children. In the USA, substantial investments in technology have been made in the care of patients, and program directors need to know which areas of technology are required to best educate pediatric residents as they train to address the growing needs of a diverse patient population.
