We all desire to create experiences for our learners which will empower them to be the most outstanding pediatricians possible, improving care for future generations. Thinking about those whom our residents will serve can give us purpose and focus as we face the challenge of curriculum development. In conversations with leaders in pediatric GME across the USA, a common challenge, shared by trainees, program directors, and faculty alike, is time—“If only we had a way to give us more hours in the day.” Although developing, maintaining, and enhancing curriculum does require time to do well, having a systematic approach to curriculum development can save time spent backtracking and reworking. Creating a logical, convincing plan for your curriculum can help you not only to effectively invest existing resources but also to use opportunities to garner additional resources for your program. In this chapter, we will tackle the time issue by outlining a systematic approach to curriculum development for pediatric program leaders and educators in keeping their curricula fresh, relevant, and effective for their learners.

摘要
